Seafood Sales Associate

Summary: Works together with other associates to assure that all objectives and goals of the department and store, as communicated by the Store, are met or exceeded. Provides excellent customer service while serving and selling the highest quality foods.

Duties and Responsibilities: The following reflects management’s definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned.   • Give every customer immediate and undivided attention
  • Trim and bone fish upon request
  • Rotate and fill seafood case
  • Properly package and wrap products for retail sale
  • Be knowledgeable of all product and be able to answer customers’ questions –be the expert.
  • Prepare special requests from customers
  • Be aware of new products and their placement
  • Maintain accurate retail pricing and signage
  • Provide support to and assist customers with requests in the meat department
  • Accept and process product from receiver
  • Keep department supplies filled and maintained
  • Follow established food safety procedures
  • Follow safe and skilled knife handling procedures
  • Keep all cases and shelves clean, well stocked, and properly rotated
  • Maintain back stock areas and coolers
  • Document product transfers, waste and spoilage using appropriate forms
  • Practice safe use of all tools and equipment required by position
  • Practice proper care and maintenance of equipment
  • Wash utensils when necessary

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to work well within a team
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and associates and convey enthusiasm
  • Strong knife skills (filleting and trimming seafood)
  • Strong knowledge of species
  • Able to meet physical requirements of the job
  • Must have a passion for food
  • Excellent customer service
  • Must be self-motivated and solution-oriented
  • Is available for flexible scheduling to meet the needs of the department
  • Desire to learn

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following:

  • Stand for long periods of time
  • Interact with a diversity of individuals
  • Lift and/or move up to 40 pounds

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Exposure to temperature variations and wet conditions
  • May walk and work on uneven surfaces
  • Requires reaching above and below shoulder height
  • Some exposure to dust, gas, fumes, and chemicals
  • May need to use a ladder or stool to reach product or supplies
  • Exposure to continuous background and occasional noise
  • Walking surfaces are sometimes slick
  • Repetitive stretching and lifting required
  • Any item over 40 pounds requires a team lift
