Mizuna Gardens

Good produce starts with great farming. Step inside Mizuna Gardens and learn how thoughtful growing and careful harvesting shape every bunch.

Greens We Keep Coming Back To

Some salad greens are fine. Others make you pause mid‑bite and think, “oh… this is really good!”

That’s the experience we keep having with Mizuna Gardens.

Just 25 miles from our stores in Warren, Oregon, Danielle Smith grows salad greens that feel alive the moment you open the bag. They’re hand‑harvested, double‑washed, and delivered fresh the very next day. Crisp, vibrant, and ready to eat—no extra work required.

Meet the Farm

Danielle Smith took over Mizuna Gardens from previous ownership in 2018 after working in special education for a local school district. She was drawn to farming as a way to help people live healthier lives, starting with the food they eat every day.

Her approach is thoughtful and precise, prioritizing flavor, quality, and consistency over shortcuts. Because the greens move quickly from the greenhouse to your kitchen, they keep their texture and taste fully intact. It’s the kind of freshness you notice immediately and miss when it’s not there.

Inside the Wild Salad Mix

The Wild Salad Mix is where Mizuna Gardens really shines. Each bag includes 15–20 rotating seasonal varieties, so no two bags are exactly the same.

The blend is intentionally balanced:

  • -⅓ lettuces, like butter, crunch, and romaine (from 20–35 varieties)
  • -⅓ endive, adding structure and a gentle bitterness
  • -⅓ wild or seasonal greens, based on what’s growing best

Depending on the season, you might find sorrel, beet greens, mustard greens, amaranth, or shungiku (crown daisy), plus pea shoots in spring and fall. In summer, basil often makes an appearance. Salad burnet, with its fresh cucumber‑like flavor, also shows up when available.

Some weeks the mix is tender and mild. Other weeks it has a little peppery kick or extra crunch. It evolves naturally with the seasons, which keeps every bag interesting.

The result is a salad that’s easy to dress, satisfying on its own or sturdy enough for heartier toppings. All while still feeling fresh and light.

More Than Just Good Greens

What truly sets Mizuna Gardens apart is the care behind every bag. This is a woman‑owned farm, growing food close to home with intention and pride. The greens are vibrant, flavorful, and genuinely delicious. Pick up a bag in our produce department and enjoy the best of what’s in season right now.
