Zalto Wine Glasses

These hand-blown glasses from Austria will take your wine drinking enjoyment to the next level.

Think the shape of the glass doesn’t matter? Zalto glasses will take your wine drinking to a new level of enjoyment. The Zalto family has been creating exclusive mouth-blown glasses for six generations.

Wine glasses come in different shapes & sizes and they each have a purpose, depending on what type of wine you plan to enjoy. The shape of a wine glass does indeed affect the flavor of the wine, allowing it to either diminish or augment the taste and fragrance. Red wine is typically poured into a taller glass with a wider bowl, allowing the bold aromas to open and emerge. White wine is typically poured into smaller, narrow bowl stemware, allowing the aromas to be preserved and the wine to stay cooler.

After partnering with the Austrian priest and wine expert Hans Denk, the company worked for five years to craft the  Denk’Art line of glasses created with the angles of the Earth in mind. The curve of the bowls are tilted at the angles of 24°, 48° and 72°, which allows the wine to reach its optimal flavor. The one-of-a-kind architecture of the glasses has a unique effect, in that the alcohol seeks the bottom of the glass and allow the aromas to be the dominating element. Since the glasses were released, they have won numerous awards and have been recognized as the best and most respected glass collection in the world.

Available in:

Universal

This is the glass to buy if you want a smaller red wine glass or one glass for all wine. Suitable for richer, mature white, as well as lighter red. It is not varietal specific, but simply brings out the best in any wine.

Bordeaux
Zalto’s most popular red wine glass, this glass is best used for wines that are full of character, either young or mature. Use for Bordeaux, Rioja, Brunello, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, or Shiraz.

Burgundy
This fine Burgundy-shaped glass is created especially for expressively perfumed wines, including Pinot Noir and Nebbiolo, which both have thin skin, grown in relatively cool climates. The shape of the bowl integrates the components of the wine, bringing to the foreground the fruit and sweeter notes.

Champagne Flute
Brings out the best regional characters of each sparkling wine. Created especially for Champagne, Sparkling Wines, Prosecco, Spumante, and Cava.

Decanter
For all red wine and full-bodied whites, this decanter gives the wine ideal ventilation to develop a memorable taste and aroma.

Selection varies across locations.
